According to the TDV encyclopedia Mostar must have been taken shortly before Blagaj in 1466–1468; the conquest of Herzegovina was completed in 1483.

    Sultan: Mehmed II
  2. 1566

The famous Mostar Bridge (Stari Most) was built in the Ottoman period.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was placed under Austro-Hungarian administration; the city formally became part of that state in 1908.

How the total is counted: years of actual Ottoman rule are added up. Temporary occupations shorter than a year (that were reversed) are not subtracted; they appear as notes in the chronology.

In the atlas

On the atlas map the city lies in the region “Herzegovina”. Map colours work at region level, so the city's own dates may differ from the region's by a few years.
