The main place the Ottomans held in today's Armenia was Yerevan (Revan); the city changed hands several times during the wars with the Safavids.
Ferhad Pasha took Yerevan in 1583 and had a fortress built there; the Safavids recovered the city in 1604. Murad IV besieged and took Yerevan in 1635, but it was lost again soon after. In the early 18th century Yerevan came under Ottoman rule once more for a time.
The city came under Ottoman control in mid-September 1583.
Shah Abbas took the city.
Murad IV took the city on 8 August 1635 and built the Revan Pavilion in Topkapı Palace to mark it; the city fell back to the Safavids on 1 April 1636.
The Ottomans took the city after a three-month siege; the 1727 agreement recognised it.
After winning at Arpaçay in June 1735, Nader Shah took the city.
