Today: Turkey
Antalya came under Ottoman rule in 1423; it remained an Ottoman city until the end of the empire. It changed hands in between; there are 2 separate Ottoman periods.
Osman Çelebi of Teke, trying to retake Antalya, was killed in January 1423 by the Ottoman commander of Teke Karahisarı; the Teke principality ended.
Sultan: Murad IICiting the Armistice of Mudros, the Italians occupied the city on 29 April 1919.
Sultan: Mehmed VIThe two-year occupation ended when the Italians began to evacuate on 1 June 1921.
How the total is counted: years of actual Ottoman rule are added up. Temporary occupations shorter than a year (that were reversed) are not subtracted; they appear as notes in the chronology.
On the atlas map the city lies in the region “Teke–Hamid (Antalya–Isparta–Burdur)”. Map colours work at region level, so the city's own dates may differ from the region's by a few years.
